The Masdar Initiative: An Arab Push for Renewable Energy

On June 28, 2007 the CSIS Middle East Program and Energy and National Security Program hosted Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company and a leading force behind Abu Dhabi's Masdar Initiative. Masdar is an ambitious and visionary renewable energy project, which seeks to build the foundations for a renewable energy future and establish Abu Dhabi as a global leader in the sector. Dr. Al Jaber highlighted Abu Dhabi's strategic vision behind the launch of the Masdar initiative, and opportunities for global partnerships and cooperation in a range of fields.
