Please join us for a discussion on mitigating religious conflict in Nigeria with USCIRF Vice Chair Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, who led a delegation to Abuja, Kaduna, Kafancan, and Jos in March to examine the sectarian violence plaguing the country. The delegation probed Nigerian and international responses to Boko Haram violence, Muslim-Christian communal violence, religious tensions, and the upcoming presidential elections. USCIRF met with senior government and religious officials, interfaith organizations and human rights activists. Dr. Jasser will provide an update on increasing religious violence and tensions, call for increased focus on ending violations of freedom of religion or belief, and provide policy recommendations to address these concerns in Nigeria.
