Pakistan: A Perilous Course

  • Monday, Sep 24, 2007
  • The PCR Project is pleased to announce the publication of A Perilous Course: US Strategy and Assistance to Pakistan.  This comprehensive review of the US/Pakistan relationship recommends a dramatic new direction.

Recent events in Pakistan, including the suspension and reinstatement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the possible return of former Premiers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, plus the evolving role of President Musharraf make this a critical time in Pakistan's history.

Upcoming US Congressional hearings (House Armed Services Committee) will evaluate US policies and goals in Pakistan and will further determine how the relationship between these two countries will develop.

A distinguished panel will weigh in on these and other issues, including funding for the Frontier Corps, development of FATA, and aid conditions, highlighting what can be expected in the coming months.
