Situated at the crossroads of the hemisphere, Panama has emerged in recent years as one of Latin America's most rapidly growing and dynamic economies. Many corporations have moved their Latin American headquarters to Panama's capital to take advantage of economic opportunities. In October 2011, the U.S. Congress ratified the U.S. - Panama Free Trade Agreement, which provides for an unprecedented expansion of relations between the two countries, beyond the strong ties already forged through the Panama Canal project. But despite the advances, significant obstacles remain. Corruption increases the cost of doing business in Panama, domestic politics remain polarized, and combating drug trafficking is a continuing challenge. To discuss Panama's current reality and challenges, we are pleased to welcome distinguished members of Panama's government and private sector. Join us for a lively and informative discussion on where Panama stands and where its leaders think it needs to go.
