March 4 – 5, 2015

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

The final conference of the 2014-2015 PONI Conference Series will be held on March 4 at United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM), Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska.

The one-day conference will feature four panels of presentations from young nuclear experts covering topics such as strategic stability and nuclear deterrence in the twenty-first century, U.S. nuclear modernization in an age of austerity, nonproliferation and nuclear security, next steps for arms control, and regional nuclear dynamics. These presentations have been selected from among the best of the 2014-2015 Conference series.

The conference will include breakfast, lunch, and an evening reception and dinner as well as keynote addresses from Kenneth Myers, Director, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and U.S. Strategic Command Center for Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Lieutenant General James Kowalski, Deputy Commander, U.S. Strategic Command. Conference presentations and keynote speeches are off-the-record.

Registration for the conference is closed.

The PONI Conference Series, now in its eleventh year, offers an opportunity for rising experts in the field to present findings from their research in order to advance the broader discussion on nuclear weapons issues. It also seeks to provide a venue for interaction among individuals from different sectors and for mid-career and senior members of the community to mentor their junior counterparts. This year's series featured conferences at Lawrence Livermore National Labs in Livermore, California; the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.
