Preventing Catastrophic Terrorism

  • g8.jpgFormer Senator Sam Nunn (c), CSIS chairman and co-chairman and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), urged that G8 leaders be held accountable for meeting their responsibility to do all they can to prevent catastrophic terrorism. At a May 26 preview of the upcoming G8 summit, Nunn and CSIS senior advisers Michele Flournoy and Bob Einhorn released a Strengthening the Global Partnership scorecard on global efforts to prevent nuclear, chemical and biological terrorism. "The real question -- is preventing catastrophic terrorism a global security priority or an afterthought. If it is an afterthought -- after what? What could be more important?" said Nunn.
