- Date: Tuesday, Aug 11, 2009Location:
4th Floor Conference Room
Center for Strategic and International Studies
1800 K Street, NW
Washington DC, 20006The CSIS Turkey Project organized a roundtable meeting focusing on closer Turkish-Russian relations and its impact on US-Turkish relations.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s August 6 visit to Turkey underscores the dramatic improvement in relations between Moscow and Ankara since the end of the Cold War. Parallel to their close economic cooperation, particularly in energy, the two countries have also been endeavoring to enhance their political cooperation. This has inevitably affected the dynamics in the triangular relationship between Ankara, Moscow and Washington
CSIS Turkey Project Director Bulent Aliriza kicks off the meeting with a review of recent developments. CSIS Energy Program Senior Fellow Ed Chow then examines cooperation in the energy sector. A general discussion follows.
