Please join us for a timely discussion with Mr. Niels Annen, Member of the German Bundestag (Social Democratic Party), and Dr. James Lewis, Director and Senior Fellow of the CSIS Technology & Public Policy Program, on the impact of the NSA revelations on the bilateral and intelligence sharing relationship.  Washington argues that Europe is hypocritical about intelligence gathering.  As damaging documents continue to be released, Mr. Annen has indicated support for a German parliament inquiry which could seek Mr. Snowden's testimony. Despite the recent visit of a senior German delegation to the White House, Berlin remains frustrated that nothing appears to have changed Washington's impact assessment and course.  As transatlantic commerce and security are heavily dependent on data sharing agreements that reflect both shared interests and mutual trust, how damaging is this scandal? What steps can the Obama administration take to ease tensions across the Atlantic? How might a failure to address this issue impact US-German cooperation in the future?
