The Role of Nuclear Power in Meeting Future Energy Needs

  • The CSIS Energy and National Security Program hosted a distinguished panel of speakers and the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to discuss the future role of commercial nuclear power and its prospects for growth amid concern over energy security and climate change. This first in a series of meetings focused on key opportunties and challenges to realizing a nuclear renaissance in the U.S. and abroad from the perspectives of environmental leaders, the business community and regulators. Subsequent meetings will explore in greater depth and detail the issues outlined at this session.
