Romania in the EU: Impact on Development and Transatlantic Relations

  • On November 8 2007, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), and the Foundation for Democracy, Culture, and Liberty co-hosted a conference in Washington D.C entitled Romania in the EU: Impact on Development and Transatlantic Relations.

    Conference panelists examined Romania’s economic development almost a year after EU accession. Romania was also discussed in a wider context in terms of regional stability, energy security, and transatlantic relations. The conference was held in an interactive environment, centered on presentations that generated discussion and exchange. Daniel S. Sullivan, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, delivered the lunch keynote remarks.
