Russian Nuclear Security and the G8 Summit

On March 1, 2006, the CSIS Strengthening the Global Partnership project held an event entitled " Russian Nuclear Security and the G8 Summit."

Colonel-General Yevgeny Maslin, retired Chief of the 12^th GUMO (Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense), gave remarks on the security of Russian nuclear weapons and materials. Laura Holgate, Vice President of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, discussed U.S.-Russian cooperation on the "global cleanout" challenge and opportunities for the Russian G8 Presidency.
