    CSIS hosted three national leaders from the education field - Carol Bellamy, president and CEO of World Learning, H. Patrick Swygert, president of Howard University, and Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, president emeritus of George Washington University - for a discussion of the significance of international education and how we can best ensure that the next generation has the necessary cultural and linguistic expertise to meet our national security interests. Rick Barton, co-director of the Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project at CSIS,  moderated the panel. This event is one of a series related to the CSIS Commission on Smart Power, a high-level bipartisan group that recently released its final report, "A Smarter, More Secure America."
