Social Franchising and Health

April 11, 2011 • 6:30 – 8:00 pm EDT

Please join the CSIS Global Health Policy Center for a discussion on the use of the social franchise model to strengthen the private sector’s delivery of health care services, with a particular focus on the role of private sector social franchising in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in developing countries. Panelist Rebecca Firestone of PSI will discuss the NCD disease burden in developing countries, followed by Nikki Charman of PSI and Gina Lagomarsino of Results for Development, who will share examples of how the social franchise model is currently used to address reproductive health and maternal and child health and assess whether that innovative model could be expanded to address NCDs in low resource settings.
