Please join us for a Statesmen's Forum featuring the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov. Six months after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Sofia and reaffirmed the U.S.-Bulgarian strategic partnership, Minister Mitov will share his thoughts on U.S.-Bulgarian cooperation in security and defense, energy security, rule of law, education, and people-to-people ties in times of unprecedented regional global complexity. From the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, increased Russian influence in Central and Southern Europe, and the Greek economic crisis to unrest in the Middle Recent and migration crisis, the shared values of the transatlantic community and the fundamental pillars of liberal democracies are experiencing profound challenges. How does the Bulgarian government address these challenges? How can Washington more actively engage this region to enhance democratic, economic and societal resilience in light of Europe's ongoing challenges?

This event is made possble by general support to CSIS.
