Join us for a conversation with United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson that will focus on the evolving development landscape, particularly on ways to incorporate governance and rule of law in the post-2015 development agenda. Deputy Secretary-General Eliasson will offer his perspective on how to build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as ways that the UN system is adapting its priorities to meet today's development challenges.

Jan Eliasson was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations in March 2012. Prior to this position, Ambassador Eliasson had a distinguished career in the Swedish foreign service, with posts as the Ambassador to the UN and the United States, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Foreign Minister of Sweden. Mr. Eliasson has also held several key positions within the United Nations, including Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Darfur, and President of the UN General Assembly.
