Taiwan Elections 2008: What is at Stake for Taiwan and Taiwan-U.S.-China Relations

  • This seminar will introduce the key issues and dramatic context of the upcoming Taiwan election season: what is at stake in the upcoming elections, the expected changes in the electoral process, and what they mean for Taiwan's political scene, cross-Strait relations and U.S. interests.  This is the first of a series of joint public seminars by CSIS, Brookings, and Georgetown examining Taiwan's democratic development, its 2008 legislative and presidential elections, and implications for relations with the United States and China.
