  • CSIS's Europe Program, the Brussels-based Friends of Europe, and the Gallup Organization hosted the second installment of the Transatlantic Satellite Conference series, focusing on transatlantic approaches to the rise of China as a global economic and security actor.

The Transatlantic Satellite Conferences provide a live link between policy experts in Brussels and Washington in an effort to promote dialogue on pressing transatlantic issues.

The conference featured panelist participation from Bates Gill, who holds CSIS's Freeman Chair in China Studies; David O'Sullivan, director general for trade at the European Commission; and Hervé Jouanjean, the European Commission's deputy director general for external relations for Asia and America. The session was moderated by Giles Merritt, director of Friends of Europe.
