Over the past year, an interdisciplinary team of CSIS scholars, working under the guidance of a Senior Advisory Group of distinguished former officials undertook a comprehensive assessment of Turkey’s internal developments and changing relations with its neighbors and the United States. A week before President Obama’s trip to Turkey, Dr. Brzezinski and General Scowcroft discussed Turkey’s importance to the Unites States and the value of this study. The CSIS scholars outlined their findings and proposals for a new strategic framework for reinvigoration and long-term management of the U.S.-Turkish relationship.
