The CSIS Russia and Eurasia Program held a discussion on Friday April 20, 2007 on the current crisis in Ukraine, the implications for the country’s political future, and the impact of U.S., European, and Russian policies.

Our speakers included three distinguished specialists on Ukrainian politics and foreign policy: Taras Kuzio is Associate Professorial Lecturer at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, and a leading scholar on Ukrainian political, economic, and security issues. Dmitri Trenin, Deputy Director and Senior Associate at the Carnegie Moscow Center and currently in residence at the D.C. office of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, is a well-known expert on Russian foreign policy. Steven Pifer is a Senior Adviser in the Russia and Eurasia Program at CSIS and former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine. The discussion was by Andrew Kuchins, Director and Senior Fellow for the CSIS Russia and Eurasia Program.
