November 19, 2015 • 2:00 – 3:00 pm EST

The CSIS Chair for Southeast Asia Studies is pleased to host a roundtable discussion with Juman Kubba, campaigner for Myanmar with Global Witness, and Tsa Ji, general secretary of the Kachin Development Network Group. Kubba and Tsa Ji will discuss Global Witness’s recent report, Jade: Myanmar’s “Big State Secret, which revealed that Myanmar’s jade production in 2014 alone was worth up to U.S. $31 billion, a figure equivalent to almost half of national GDP. They will examine the impact of the natural resource governance issues facing Myanmar and possible U.S. policy responses.
