CSIS hosted an event to discuss the development and implementation of rapid DNA and other emerging biometric and forensic technologies that support the primary missions in the President's new strategic guidance for the U.S. Department of Defense.New technological developments in the biometric and forensic disciplines will provide the government with a distinct advantage against adversaries in overseas operations as well as provide for a more secure homeland, but many challenges remain. The goal of the forum is to inform how biometrics and forensics enables various mission sets, discuss DNA privacy issues, and discuss the importance of sharing forensics data throughout the U.S. government. The keynote speakers was followed by panels on DNA privacy issues and the information sharing environment.
