US-Poland Defense Industry Working Group Conference

Purposes: To improve mutual understanding of defense requirements and solutions, to increase growth in cooperative research activities, and to continue exchanging ideas about the transatlantic cooperation of defense industries.
Participation: The Polish delegation was led by His Excellency Pawel Zalewski, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm. The delegation included 25 to 30 Polish leaders and experts from government and the private sector, and was joined by some 50 American government, university and business leaders.
Approach: The conference was organized around the brief presentations and extensive discussions and exchanges. Breaks and the May 15 luncheon permitted private exchanges. A report of actions agreed to during the conference is being prepared. This conference has been organized with the generous assistance of the Polish Embassy in Washington D.C., and the encouragement of the US Embassy in Poland and the Lockheed Martin Corporation.
