Water and Food Security Challenges: Regional Perspectives

Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Project on Global Water Policy and Global Food Security Project for a public discussion regarding the challenges that developing nations face in efficiently managing water resources as they increase food production to meet the needs of growing populations.

Panelists will discuss the challenges that nations in South Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America face in building agricultural systems that can accommodate growing populations; managing increasing competition for water resources due to urbanization and economic development; adapting their systems to the stresses that dietary changes, corresponding with increasing affluence, place on their water and agricultural systems; and responding to other stresses and uncertainties, such as climate change. The panelists will also discuss the role that the United States and the international community can play in partnering with these nations to achieve water and food security.
