The CSIS Energy and National Security Program hosted Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka and Chief Economist Dr. Fatih Birol to discuss the new World Energy Outlook (WEO 2007). It presents the International Energy Agency’s view to 2030 of key trends in energy demand, imports, coal use and greenhouse gas emissions. This new edition of the authoritative World Energy Outlook provides detailed insight into the energy futures of emerging giants of the world economy, China and India. WEO 2007 explores the challenge of transforming living standards for billions in these rapidly growing economies while globally achieving a more secure, lower-carbon energy system. With extensive statistics, detailed projections, analysis and advice, WEO 2007 equips policymakers and the public to cooperatively shape a better energy future. In this session, Executive Director Tanaka and Dr. Birol discussed key findings of the report and took questions.
