XVI International AIDS Conference: Post-Conference Briefing

More than 26,000 participants from more than 170 countries attended the XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006) from August 13-18 in Toronto. The conference was one of the most important gatherings for the release and discussion of key developments in the global fight against HIV/AIDS. As a follow up to AIDS 2006, the CSIS and the Kaiser Family Foundation hosted a roundtable discussion on the policy, programmatic, and scientific outcomes of the conference to assess implications for the future.
Stephen Morrison, executive director of CSIS's Task Force on HIV/AIDS, participated in the discussion. Other panelists were:
- Helene Gayle, conference co-chair, outgoing president, International AIDS Society, president and CEO, CARE USA
- Todd Summers, senior policy officer for global health, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
