Henrietta Holsman Fore is chairman and CEO of Holsman International, an investment and management company involved in domestic and international business. Holsman International is part of a family of companies beginning in 1902 with the Holsman Automobile Company. The Holsman companies now include the 60-year-old Stockton Products, as well as Vicenza. Ms. Fore most recently served as the administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a presidential appointment with Senate confirmation. At USAID she was responsible for thousands of projects worldwide, many of which were environment and energy related. In that capacity, she was designated by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as director of U.S. foreign assistance, holding the equivalent rank as deputy secretary of state. As the first female administrator of USAID, she was responsible for managing $39.5 billion of U.S. foreign assistance annually, including support to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms. She oversaw a staff of approximately 8,000, of whom more than 75 percent worked overseas in USAID field offices with an annual budget of $12.3 billion. She served on the boards of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Immediately prior to her confirmation as USAID administrator, she served as undersecretary of state for management, the COO for the Department of State, a position she held beginning in August 2005. She was responsible for the people, resources, facilities, technology, and security of the department and was the secretary’s principal adviser on management issues. She oversaw a management budget of $3.6 billion, 7,200 employees, 30,000 contractors, and 267 embassies and posts in 172 countries. She had also been a presidential appointee at the U.S. Agency for International Development from 1989 to 1993, first as assistant administrator for private enterprise and then assistant administrator for Asia. In addition, she was founder of the United States–Asia Environmental Partnership, a coalition of U.S. departments and agencies, business, and Asian countries solving Asia’s environmental problems. Ms. Fore served as the 37th director of the U.S. Mint in the Department of Treasury from August 2001 to August 2005. Ms. Fore managed the world's largest manufacturer of coins, medals, and coin products. She was elected president of the International Mint Directors. In recognition of her government service, she received the Distinguished Service Award in 2009, the highest award from the Department of State, and in 2005, the Alexander Hamilton Award, the Department of the Treasury’s highest honor. In addition to her foreign policy, management, and financial experience in government service, Ms. Fore has held leadership positions in numerous international nonprofit organizations. She is a trustee of CSIS, the Aspen Institute, and the Asia Society in New York, NY, and Washington, D.C. Earlier in her career, Ms. Fore was a successful businesswoman running her own company and serving on the boards of public corporations, such as the Dexter Corporation and HSB Group Inc., both listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Ms. Fore holds a B.A. degree in history from Wellesley College and an M.S. degree in public administration from the University of Northern Colorado. She received the 2004 Alumnae Award from the University of Northern Colorado and the 2006 Alumnae Award from the Baldwin School. She has also studied international politics at Oxford University and studied at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
