Michael Galvin is the cofounder and vice chairman of Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, LLC and serves on the company's Board of Directors and Investment Committee. Since cofounding the company with his brother, Chris Galvin, and Christopher Merrill in 2005, Mr. Galvin is located at the Company's Washington D.C. office. In addition, he is the president and cofounder of Harrison Street Capital, LLC; cofounder of the Galvin Projects (a virtual global think tank); and cofounder of Gore Creek Asset Management, LLC (a large capital investment company, utilizing and managing global investment managers on behalf of his family’s capital). Harrison Street Capital, LLC was established in 2005 in order to establish businesses in real estate, private equity, and venture capital. With Harrison Street Real Estate now established, activities in early stage high technology ventures and the formation of a privately held multi-business conglomerate are underway. Prior to these activities, Mr. Galvin was the president of Galvin Enterprises, Inc. (GEI) and managed a venture capital portfolio of investments in biotechnology, real estate development, and business services. GEI managed Media Cybernetics, the leading global producer and distributor of analytical imaging software. Mr. Galvin was also an early investor in Chelsea Piers, a very successful mixed-use real estate development that consists of a 30-acre waterfront sports village located between 18th and 23rd Streets along Manhattan's Hudson River. Opened in 1995, Chelsea Piers has transformed four historic, long-neglected piers into a major center for public recreation and waterfront access. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Galvin served as assistant secretary of commerce for export administration in the Bush administration. From 1978 to 1989, Mr. Galvin was an attorney with the law firm of Winston & Strawn, where he was elected a corporate finance transactions partner. He serves CSIS as a trustee, as a member of the Executive Committee, and as chairman of the Finance Committee. He received a B.S. in economics, cum laude, from Boston College and a J.D., cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
