  • Ray L. Hunt is a Dallas businessman whose association with Hunt Oil Company began in 1958. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1965 with a degree in economics and now serves as chairman, president, and CEO of Hunt Consolidated, Inc. He also serves as chairman of Hunt Consolidated Energy and Hunt Consolidated Investments. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of Bessemer Securities Corporation; King Ranch, Inc; and PepsiCo, Inc. Within the oil and gas industry, Mr. Hunt is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Petroleum Institute and he previously served as president of the Dallas Petroleum Club and the Dallas Wildcat Committee. In 1992, he was elected to the Texas Business Hall of Fame (his father posthumously received this honor in 1986); in 2005, he received the annual Chief Roughneck Award (his father received it in 1966); and in 2008, Mr. Hunt was awarded the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers Legends Medal (his father received the award in 2002). Active in civic affairs, Mr. Hunt has previously served as chairman of the board of Southern Methodist University, the Dallas Citizens Council, the North Texas Commission, and the Central Dallas Association. He is currently chairman of Dallas Medical Resource. Mr. Hunt serves as a member of the executive committee of Southern Methodist University’s Board of Trustees, as a trustee CSIS, as a trustee of the Cooper Institute, and on the George W. Bush Institute’s Board of Advisors. With respect to government service, in October 2001 and again in January 2006, Mr. Hunt was appointed by President George W. Bush to the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, where he served until 2009. He was also appointed by the Federal Reserve System’s Board of Governors to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in 1998. He served as chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for four years (2002-2006) until rotating off the board on December 31, 2006. Additionally, he is currently a member of the National Petroleum Council and served as its chairman from 1991 to 1994.
