Andreas Dracopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, with a bachelor of science degree in economics. He is director and co-president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, an international philanthropic organization, which was established by his great-uncle, the late Stavros Niarchos. Mr. Dracopoulos is a trustee of the Rockefeller University and a board member of the Dalton School in New York City; a member of the board of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a member of the board and member of the International Councillors of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.; a trustee of the Johns Hopkins University, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Berman Institute of Bioethics. He is an honorary trustee of the New York Public Library (NYPL), where he served as a trustee from 2003 to 2010. In June 2012, the NYPL honored him for his contributions to the library’s educational programs. In February 2012, he was awarded by the Greek State the Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix. Mr. Dracopoulos is also the recipient of the 2002 Odyssey Award from the Hellenic Community of Astoria, New York, and in 2015 he was honored during the 100th Anniversary celebration of The National Herald, in recognition of his contributions towards the promotion of Greek education. He resides in New York City.
