Andreas Dracopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, with a bachelor of science degree in economics. He is director and co-president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, an international philanthropic organization, which was established by his great uncle, the late Stavros Niarchos. Mr. Dracopoulos is a trustee of the Rockefeller University, a board member of the Dalton School in New York City, a board member of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a board member and member of the International Councillors of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a trustee of the Johns Hopkins University, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Berman Institute of Bioethics. He is an honorary trustee of the New York Public Library (NYPL), where he also served as a trustee from 2003 to 2010. In June 2012, the NYPL honored him for his contributions to the library’s educational programs. In February 2012, Mr. Dracopoulos was awarded by the Greek State the Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix. He is also the recipient of the 2002 Odyssey Award from the Hellenic Community of Astoria, New York, in recognition of his contributions toward the promotion of Greek education. He resides in New York City.
