Andreas Dracopoulos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in economics. Mr. Dracopoulos is director and copresident of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, an international philanthropic organization established by his great-uncle, the late Stavros Niarchos. Mr. Dracopoulos is a trustee of the Rockefeller University; a board member of the Dalton School in New York City; a board member of the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, D.C.; a trustee and member of the International Councillors of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C.; a trustee of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.; and a member of the Advisory Board of the Berman Institute of Bioethics at Johns Hopkins. He is an honorary trustee of the New York Public Library (NYPL), where he also served as a trustee from 2003 to 2010. In June 2012, the NYPL honored him and his wife Katerina for their contributions to the library’s educational programs. In February 2012, Mr. Dracopoulos was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by Greece. He is also the recipient of the 2002 Odyssey Award from the Hellenic Community of Astoria, N.Y., in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of Greek education.
