Guy Ben-Ari is a fellow with the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group at CSIS, where he studies the links among innovation, industry, military capabilities and defense policy. Prior to joining CSIS, he was a research associate at George Washington University’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy, where he worked on national research and development policies and network-centric capabilities. From 2000 to 2002, he managed collaborative research and development programs for Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., an Israeli high-technology company in the field of satellite communications, and from 1995 to 2000, he was a technology analyst for the Israeli government. He has also consulted for the European Commission and the World Bank on innovation policy and project evaluation.
Ben-Ari holds an M.A. in international science and technology policy from the George Washington University and a B.A. in political science from Tel Aviv University. He is the coauthor of Transforming European Militaries: Coalition Operations and the Technology Gap (Routledge, 2006), coeditor of Organizing for a Complex World: Developing Tomorrow's Defense and Net-Centric Systems (CSIS, 2009), and author of various book chapters and articles.
