Colonel Jean-Christophe Noel is a French military fellow with the CSIS International Security Program. He graduated from the French Air Force Academy in 1988 with a degree in engineering. As a fighter pilot, he began his service in the 33 Reconnaissance Wing in Strasburg and later commanded the 1/7 squadron based at Saint Dizier. Colonel Noel then served in the French Air Force Staff dealing with procurement, doctrine, and lessons learned matters. He was the speechwriter for the former chief of staff of the French Air Force, General Stéphane Abrial, who is currently supreme allied commander of transformation. Colonel Noel participated in the writing of the French Air Force concept, made multiple deployments, and participated in operations above Africa, Iraq, Bosnia, and Kosovo from 1991 to 2003. He holds a degree in political science from l`Institut d`Etudes Politiques de Paris and also graduated from the Joint War College in Paris in 2000.
