John B. Hess has served as chief executive officer of Hess Corporation since 1995. Hess Corporation is a leading global independent energy company primarily engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. Its exploration and production activities take place in the United States, Norway, Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Algeria, Libya, Kurdistan, Malaysia, Australia, and other countries. Mr. Hess joined the company in May 1977 and was elected a director in November 1978. He served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer for 18 years before focusing solely on his role as CEO in 2013. Mr. Hess is a graduate of Harvard College (B.A., 1975) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A., 1977). He is a member of the Board of Directors of KKR & Company (2011) and a member of the Business Council, the Trilateral Commission, and the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Hess is also a member of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and a member of the Boards of Trustees at the New York Public Library, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Deerfield Academy. In addition, he is on the Board of Dean’s Advisors at Harvard Business School.
