Karen Meacham
  • Karen Meacham is the deputy director and fellow of the CSIS Global Health Policy Center, where she helps define and carry out its vision, policies, and agenda. She is responsible for day-to-day management of the Center, including building and maintaining relationships with CSIS regional and security programs, as well as with external partner organizations. Previously, she worked on the CSIS Smart Power project, where she directed the Dialogue with America, a grassroots initiative to bring an “outside the beltway” perspective to the foreign policy debate.

    Before joining CSIS, Ms. Meacham was a senior member of Mayor Anthony Williams’ administration in Washington, D.C., first serving as deputy director of the Department of Parks and Recreation and then as deputy administrator of the Office of Mass Transit. From 1995 to 1998, Ms. Meacham served with the U.S. Peace Corps as an agricultural volunteer in Senegal, West Africa. She received her M.P.A. from Columbia University and her B.A. in geography from Vassar College.
