Kazuyo Kato

  • Kazuyo Kato is an associate program officer at The Sasakawa Peace Foundation in Tokyo, Japan. From November 2007 to June 2009, she was an associate with Armitage International, L.C., an international business consulting firm headed by former U.S. deputy secretary of state Richard L. Armitage. From 2003 to 2007, she was a research associate with the CSIS International Security Program, where she worked on a number of projects related to Asia, including Japan, South Korea, China/Taiwan, and India. Her main areas of interest include U.S. and Japanese political and security issues and U.S.-Japan relations. Prior to joining CSIS, she was an analyst at the Tokyo office of KPMG Japan, where she helped provide consulting services to multinational corporations in industries such as software, financial services, electronics, and metals to establish intra-company transaction strategies. Ms. Kato is a native of Japan but was raised in the United States. She was born in Australia and has also lived in Egypt. She received both her B.A. in international relations and her M.A. in international policy studies from Stanford University in California.
