  • Michael Galvin is the cofounder and vice chairman of Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, LLC and serves on the company's Board of Directors and Investment Committee. Since cofounding the company with his brother, Chris Galvin, and Christopher Merrill in 2005, Mr. Galvin has participated in the acquiring or developing of over $1.8 billion of real estate throughout 26 states in the United States. In addition, Mr. Galvin is the president and cofounder of Harrison Street Capital LLC, cofounder of the Galvin Projects (a virtual global think tank), and cofounder of Gore Creek Asset Management LLC (a large capital investment company, utilizing and managing global investment managers on behalf of his family’s capital). Harrison Street Capital LLC was established in 2005 in order to establish businesses in real estate, private equity, and venture capital. Prior to these activities, Mr. Galvin was the president of Galvin Enterprises, Inc., and managed a venture capital portfolio of investments in biotechnology, real estate development, and business services. Mr. Galvin was also an early investor in Chelsea Piers, a very successful mixed-use real estate development that consists of a 30-acre waterfront sports village located between 18th and 23rd Streets along Manhattan's Hudson River. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Galvin served as assistant secretary of commerce for export administration in the Bush administration. During that time, he worked with the State and Defense Departments and with U.S. trade partners to reformulate and renegotiate major government policies affecting approximately $150 billion in annual U.S. export trade. From 1978 to 1989, Mr. Galvin was an attorney with the law firm of Winston & Strawn, where he was elected a corporate finance transactions partner. He serves CSIS as a trustee, as a member of the Executive Committee, and as chairman of the Finance Committee. He received a bachelor of science in economics, cum laude, from Boston College and a juris doctor, cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
