Yoshihiro Sakai

Yoshihiro Sakai has held various senior positions in the public and private sectors. In the public sector, he worked for the Bank of Japan for 15 years, starting in the Market Operations Department, later in the Banking Supervisory Division, and finally in the Financial and Payment System Office. In the private sector, he advises on financial and operational structure for global companies, and he is an adjunct professor at Kwanseigakuin University in Japan. Mr. Sakai was a member of the project team that revised the Bank of Japan Law. He has also collaborated in writing the Examination Manual for Market Risk and the Kansai Commodity Index and was the translation editor for the Japanese edition of The Handbook of Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (by Frank J. Fabozzi and David P. Jacob). Before joining CSIS, he was a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and authored articles for International Economy Magazine, the Financial Times, and Ronza and KINZAI (Japanese financial magazines). He also has given economics speeches in the United States, Japan, and China. Mr. Sakai received his L.L.B. from Aoyamagakuin University in Tokyo, his M.B.A. from New York University, and his M.A. in criminal justice from Boston University.
