On August 2, 2005, Chen introduces his four-stage theory on the development of the ROC. According to this theory, from 1912 to 1949, the ROC was situated in mainland China. From 1949 to 1988, the ROC came to Taiwan. From 1988 to 2000, the ROC was situated on Taiwan. And from 2000 onward, the ROC is Taiwan.
