Disaster response efforts are a vital component of development activities, providing timely interventions to stabilize and strengthen communities affected by conflict situations and natural disasters. U.S. government officials and development practitioners partner with host nations to respond to complex emergency situations in a time of need. Further, they work to build the long-term capacity and resilience of partner countries to mitigate the severity and frequency of future disasters.
Timothy Knight has over 25 years of experience managing conflict response and disaster assistance programs for both the public and private sectors. He has overseen relief and reconstruction projects in over 50 countries and formerly served as assistant director of USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance. Mr. Knight will share his expertise on emergency management and a career in this unique field of development.
