Please listen as Doug Farah, who will be visiting El Salvador in the run-up to the election, shared his views on the upcoming election. Mr. Farah has over 30 years of experience working in El Salvador. Given the likelihood of a run-off election on March 9, this is the first of a two-part series. With El Salvador's presidential election on February 2nd fast approaching, polls continue to show a dead heat between the FMLN's Salvador Sánchez Cerén and ARENA's Norman Quijano. While both candidates were receiving comparable levels of support, they offered differing visions for El Salvador's future. From dealing with the maras and drug trafficking to stimulating economic growth, the leading candidates were arguing for distinct policy prescriptions to address El Salvador's challenges.
