In recent years, thousands of individuals from Europe, the United States, and elsewhere have traveled to Syria in order to fight and take part in the ongoing armed conflict. These foreign fighters have not only impacted the conflict within Syria itself by joining all of the various combatant groups, but are increasingly a concern for the international community as they seek to return home. Please join the CSIS Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Program, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, on the morning of May 30th for an on-the-record discussion of the challenges posed by the Syrian conflict's foreign fighters.
