CSIS Announces Partnership with Embassy of Denmark

WASHINGTON, July 22, 2014 – The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Embassy of Denmark. Through this partnership, CSIS will work on new global development priorities, generate discussion, and produce solutions to the issues of state fragility and security, economic and youth development, and the nexus of energy and development.

“CSIS recognizes the importance of international development not only to the world’s well-being, but also to global security,” said John J. Hamre, president, CEO, and Pritzker chair at CSIS. “We look forward to expanding our efforts to produce workable development solutions through this initiative.”

CSIS will draw upon its existing programs and the leadership of its experts to contribute to and shape discourse on these development priorities. The Center will determine how external actors interact with drivers of fragility and alter political economy dynamics through relevant country case studies. To respond to challenges in economic and youth development, CSIS will facilitate a working group series focused on youth workforce development in the Middle East and North Africa to examine the role of education, technology, and innovation in emerging economies. Lastly, to address issues of energy development in Africa, CSIS will provide options to policymakers and the private sector on methods to support natural resource development.

“CSIS has earned a stellar reputation through their enterprising in the field of international development,” said H.E. Peter Taksøe-Jensen, Ambassador of Denmark to the United States. "We are honored to partner with such a fine institution on these important issues.”

Over the last decade, CSIS has created global development programs that look at both traditional humanitarian challenges such as global health and food security, and new development actors that are shaping the development landscape such as the international business community, emerging bilateral donors, and global philanthropy.
