Mexico

The Americas program has provides analyses on the range of issues that impact the bilateral relationship and Mexico's progress toward accountable, democratic government. These issues include but are not limited to: the increasing integration of the U.S. and Mexican economies, Mexico's continuing democratization process, border security, immigration policy, U.S.-Mexico counter-narcotic cooperation efforts, sustainable development in the border region, and the Mexican executive and legislative branches' capacity to govern.

Canada

Canada and the United States have together shared a geographical space for two hundred years in a relationship that is familiar, mutually beneficial, and often mutually discomfiting. Canada is by far the largest U.S. trading partner and a key strategic ally.

  • Dealing with the Causes: Mexico’s Economic Policy and Migration explores the fundamental connection between the state of Mexico’s economy and its high rate of migration to the United States.

  • Mexico 2012: Tracking Democracy in a Time of Uncertainty

    This project examines political developments in Mexico leading up to the 2012 presidential election.  Mexico 2012 will focus on current and future developments that will affect Mexican economic governance, political stability, and central issues in the bilateral relationship with the United States, including immigration, security, and trade.
