The Europe Program monitors developments in European security and foreign assistance capabilities in the wake of the financial crisis and new austerity measures.

Focus

In response to the global economic recession and European financial crisis, European austerity measures are cutting government spending across the board. The CSIS Europe Program actively follows European budgetary developments in order to forecast changes in European security policy, defense capabilities, and future NATO commitments. The program also monitors the G-8 and G-20 agendas with a focus on their development and global health goals in the context of the fragile global economy.
