Capacity for disaster risk management, including humanitarian response, will constitute a crucial portfolio for national governments, international and regional organizations, and development and humanitarian workers in the future. This is particularly true in Asia, an area that has absorbed a disproportionate share of the world’s recent natural disasters, and where settlement patterns and rapid urbanization expose millions to possible harm. The Post Conflict Reconstruction program at CSIS will engage with regional experts to build a network of regional institutions to promote more cohesive and effective long term responses to humanitarian crises in Asia.
