The Africa Program seeks to highlight opportunities and challenges for the U.S. relationship with Nigeria, and develop ideas for strengthening the partnership for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The CSIS Africa Program consults with regional experts, private sector representatives, nongovernmental organizations, and government officials from both the U.S. and Nigeria to seek ways to strengthen this bilateral relationship. A broad range of issues are discussed, including: the Niger Delta conflict; management of the energy sector; boosting  agriculture; mitigating ethnic, religious, and regional cleavages; political reform; maritime security; and public health delivery.

The Africa Program helps facilitate the work of the Washington-based Niger Delta Working Group, which monitors events in the region and provides ongoing news, resources, and commentary.
