Wall Street and the Pentagon
The Wall Street and the Pentagon project analyzes the financial health of the defense sector and explores the impact of defense policies on the shape and character of the global defense-industrial base.
Washington insiders understand defense budgets; industry leaders understand their businesses. Yet seldom are the views of both presented together. Defense-policy decisions, and the budgets that result, shape the industrial base that in turn provides the capabilities to implement those policies. A weak industry will offer fewer capabilities and constrain policy makers. CSIS employs a range of financial metrics and draws on its extensive defense expertise to help explain this interaction.
The Strengthening the Core project examines how the government and the private sector can work together to keep the defense industry competitive in an increasingly complex and fast-paced business environment.
