CSIS Argentina Office

The office is located at the premises of the Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales (CARI), the most important private institution in Argentina for the development of international relations. It was opened in 1995 to provide local support to the U.S.-Argentine Caucus. In August 1997, with the object of providing a counterpart to the CSIS U.S. Congressional Study Group (CSG), this office launched the Argentine branch of the CSG, which was formed by 10 senators and 6 representatives representing different districts and political parties. Two Argentine congressional delegations have traveled to Washington, in June 2001, 2002, and 2004. CSIS, jointly with the Fundación Universitaria de Buenos Aires, conducted a program that sponsored seven U.S. congressional staff visits to Argentina.

Currently the CSIS Argentina Office funds exchanges between American and Argentine officials, opinion leaders, and private citizens.
