Publications
A publication entitled “Governance in an Asian Context: What do Indonesian Corporations Gain from Good Corporate Governance?” edited by Peter Verhezen, Erry R. and Pri Notowidigdo is in preparation. The objective of the book is to provide a conceptual framework, as well as some practical proven principles, to guide boards and its top management to improve their governance and thus their overall long-term shareholder value. The book will analyze the pitfalls and important governance issues in Indonesia, taking into account the relatively high risk perception Indonesia has acquired. The book will also indicate how despite the challenges, businesses have reacted to the regulatory framework of governance and the pressures of the international business community and how Indonesian businesses are positioning themselves. A number of governance tools for corporations will be described in the book, with an emphasis on both formal and informal governance mechanisms.
Participating authors include both academicians and practitioners who will present case studies on how to improve governance in a competitive Indonesian and/or global business environment. They include Arief Surowidjojo, Noke Kiroyan, Michael Miner, Manggi Habir and Kemal Stamboel.
