Ocean Law and Policy Institute
The Pacific Forum Ocean Law and Policy Institute focuses on strengthening the linkage between scientific expertise on oceans issues and policies that govern ocean usage at the state, national, and international levels. The Institute’s Director, Linda Paul, an expert in environmental and oceans law, is active in promoting problem-solving on a variety of oceans issues, including the creation of the Northwest Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument. The Institute is seeking new opportunities to promote the development of environmentally sound oceans policies that protect local and international waters and habitats, while recognizing legitimate U.S. and international security concerns associated with maintaining freedom of the seas and protection of international sea lanes.
