    In addition to discussing India's overall strategy to combat HIV/AIDS, this report focuses on what the statistics released in 2006 by India’s National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) indicate about the spread of HIV/AIDS in India, the potential impact of the epidemic on India’s growing economy, the complex nature of HIV/AIDS in India, and recommendations for continued U.S. engagement in India’s fight against HIV/AIDS.
